Opera & Musicals

Opera17 was founded by Sharon Nicholson-Skeggs in 2017 as part of the City of Culture celebrations (although a semi-staged performance of Tosca was performed in 2016). Sharon felt that for many years there has not been a platform for local singers to sing Grand Opera and Musicals as she has herself had to travel outside of the city to perform this repertoire.

The aim of the group is therefore to bring this type of music to the people of Hull with quality singers and also to help raise funds for good causes. 2017 was the first year for the Company with performances at Hull Minster, Sewerby Hall and the Guildhall as well as other venues in the city.
